I am a junior faculty lecturing Physiology at the School of Medicine, Copperbelt University, Zambia. We make use of an integrated model curriculum. This has not been without great challenges in the implementation. Amongst these, is the chasm between pure basic scientists and physicians that is keeps widening. This has trickled down to students perceiving basic sciences almost irrelevant.

So I have been tasked with others to suggest ways of fostering integration of basic and clinical sciences through partnership between pure basic scientists and teaching physicians. What aspects should be considered and how can they be implemented?
