CR-39 is sensitive to alpha radiation of both radon and thoron. therefore it can not be directly done with only one CR-39. but the idea in this paper is they use two cr-39 enclosed in plastic boxes. one has a sponge surrounding the chip. this stops the Thoron from diffusing into it, thus it only measure alpha from radon. The other measure alpha from both radon and thoron. There is an equation that takes the difference and give the thoron concentration
