And...of course you need to start doing some research.
If you start writing short pieces that do not need full peer review it gives good experience in dealing with editors and reviewers. They can sometimes be very difficult to work with.
Book chapters are a good start. It is usually easy to find people seeking research collaborators for books. Expertise is more important than a past publication record.
You can of course seek collaborators yourself by post an inquiry on RG for instance. Lots of people do.
