"ELEMENT DELETION" is available in Abaqus Explicit:

by element deletion , it is available in abaqus.

Try to look around the command *MODEL CHANGE in ABAQUS . You can start reading in the keywords reference guide. You can use this to add or remove finite elements (or sets) throughout the steps in ABAQUS, similar as in some structural analysis software for a bridge or tunneling design.

I am trying to simulate progressive collapse analysis in communication tower for which i need to specify the stress at which element should be deleted.

Is it possible to give two set of failure stresses each for compression and tension members?

My structure is steel lattice tower.

I am using ANSYS software to simulate progressive collapse in RC structure. There is a Birth and Death feature available and by using 'kill and elive' commands, you can delete and create the elements during the analysis. I am not sure if these commands are available in Abaqus or not.
