For a Mg alloy, I analyzed the texture by X'Pert Pro, from two samples of extrusion and extrusion followed by forging. Can some of tell me how I can compare the fraction of different planes in this two processes.
I am not sure what do you mean with fraction pf planes (better: whether we are talking about the same) but what you can clearly can see is a weakening of the strong (0001) fiber texture during the following forging process. This shows the broader distribution in the pole figure as well as the number given by the scale which describes the "higher fraction of planes" compared to a isotropic distribution. That (0001) and (10-10) - or any other (reciprocal) direction perpendicular to (0001) shows higher values is related to the three times higher plane multiplicity of (10-10).
