It's possible to find the actual time taken for the simulation and also the average time taken per iteration.

Just type "parallel>timer>usage" in the console. You will get what you need. It works only on parallel processing.

The first thing I would like to state that, your question is still not clear, however, In my understanding I would like to suggest you to set a property monitor with respect to time for transient case study that directly give you the fluctuation with respect to total time.

Hi sorry brother. Actually my work is to reduce the duration of simulation.

My simulation was running continuously for more than a month. I have saved my case and dat file. Now in report i,'m in need to indicate total duration for simulation in hours

Simulation time depends on configuration of your hardware...use more RAM and processor to obtain results sooner.

Simulation depends on the mesh refinement you have used in your structure.if you are using fine mesh,then obviously your simulation time will be higher and the results will be accurate.If coarse mesh is used ,simulation time will be less and so is accuracy.Simulation time also depends on the RAM and system configuration used to run the process.For CFX ,minimum 4GB RAM will be better

I think thats a tedious task and it has no options .All you have to do is note down the time on the first line of iteration and the converged line .May be that work

This work only for parallel processing.

I have some observations here. one should use this option before closing the simulation. I mean once you closed the simulation, and after some time (say one day) you need to know what was the actual time spent on this simulation..... this option will not work !!

I checked it on my previous simulation with parallel processing that after reading case and data files, this option gives 0.0 sec ! (see attached file)

if you copy your file from one computer to another computer, or you change parallel processor from 3 to 10.... again this option gives you 0.0 sec !

I mean to say ! before closing your simulation, use this option....

All other friend that have closed their simulation and now they are willing to know the spent time, I have one alternate solution..

In the simulation folder check your date files ( if available, normally I save date files after every seconds ), which gives you Date modified , type and size. In this way you can estimate the time laps from one date file to other date file according to your computer time. This is also the correct and actual time spent by your computer on simulation..

the best way to do that is to note the time of the file named " session output" (this is the beginning of simulation) and then the time of the last updated result (*.dat file) file.

Run this command in Fluent:

(solver-cpu-time)

You must type the parenthesis!

Is the flow time in FLUENT equal to the actual result， if not， the flow time has no meaning.

I have tried your method and I got 6 secs. However, I believe my actual processing time is almost a minute. What does total-clock time means? Thank you
