I am interested in studying the effect of a mountain range on the intensity of low pressure. My question is: Is it possible to use WRF model to handle a hypothetical case that a certain mountain range does not exist and then get back to re-consider it again?

You can use WRF model for your hypothetical case.
After you ran ./geogrid.exe, the model will create geo_em.d0*.nc files.
In these file, you can change HGT_M (topography height) to your hypothetical height. After you change HGT_M, You need to run ./ungrib.exe and ./metgrid.exe.
You also need to consider some settings in namelist.input. In the WRF user guide , search for "gravity wave drag (or gwd_opt)".

As Morteza mentioned, it's straightforward but you might have to get comfortable with the WRF model inputs from the geo_em* files. I would also consider looking into the Factor Separation Method from Alpert and Stein, especially if you want to start looking at different factors that might be contributing to your variable field of interest:

Yes you can do this. By change the out put file after running geofrid.exe
This will creat file named as geog_em.nc you can use this file to do your process
Yes, you can vary the smoothing of the terrain in the grid or use a coarser terrain in a finer scale grid.
Yes, you can. In WRF, there is a smooth_option (smooth passes=1) option and interpolation options for terrain (defined in GEOGRID.TBL) or you can simply use a coarser terrain file in a finer scale grid.
