I have found some literature that ZnO nanoparticles can be synthesized using by chemical method using ZnCl2 but in biological method researchers are using Zinc nitrate or zinc acetate specially. I want to synthesize using Zncl2. So can anyone please suggest me the procedure to synthesize ZnO nanoparticle.
There is no oxygen in ZnCl2 (but there is in the acetate and nitrate which decompose to the oxide) so you would need a roasting or oxidation stage to get to the oxide. Indeed you don’t need a ‘biological’ material to get to the oxide - just heat the chloride at a high temperature in air.... And you’ll end up with a fused mass of post-micron aggregates and agglomerates....
I also advise you to look at the basic thermodynamics of ZnCl2 to ZnO - calculate if this is endothermic or exothermic.....
Using water and chloride tents to results in quite large zinc hydroxyl chlorides (simoncolloide). Using a base (producing a base by a biological reaction) to form such chlorides might be possible. Heat treatment will also lead to ZnO . But what is the aim of the procedure. Using a simple base like NaOH can lead to well defined nanoparticles without heat Treatment(as published e.g. by myself).
