I think you need to use a damage evolution model and if you are using one then you will have to play around with damage model and evolution parameters until you get the desired result.

I forgot to mention it, I am using the GTN fracture model. I have tried already to change parameters and see what happens, but nothing really helped to solve my problem.

I have no clue about the GTN fracture model as I am using Johnson-Cook damage model but I can definitely say that if you are trying to simulate fracture like behavior then you need to assess what's most important for the model i.e. damage criteria. If there are any evolution criteria then try to modify it and observe any changes it has on your model.

You should check the damage criteria initiation variables- DMICRT, SDEG (if applicable) for the distorted elements and change your evolution criteria accordingly. Also try analyzing strain variable.
