I want to simulate two phase fluid flowing through a pipe who is buried at a certain depth of the ground. I am using FLUENT for the modeling purpose. I am not sure how should I proceed with the problem, should I go with mixture model or the Euler model or the VOF? and which solution method (pressure-velocity coupling) is it compatible with my case: Coupled or PISO or Simple? thank you in advance.
Maybe you should use the mixture model for economical computing.
Use PISO if you want to simulate the transient process.
If you want to simulate the forced boiling heat transfer from single phase flow, at least do not use VOF.
Use the numerical method to qualitatively investigate the flow and heat transfer phenomena.
Just my own opinion.
The choice of model depends on the purpose of the simulation and what kind of fluid (gaseous or liquid? Which species?). If you're interested mostly in issues of mixture quality (unmixedness etc.) in a gaseous flow then I would go for a mixture model which is much more economic. If you're interested in processes in shear layers or things like that, you'll probably have to go for a more detailed VOF approach... just my 2 cents :)
Thank's for your reply Mr.Houjian Zhao and Mr Jörg Leicher, I inform you that my purpose of simulation is the evaporation of the fluid (R22) during the summer period and to condense it during the winter period and I want to have a gas 100% for the first case at the outlet and a liquid 100% for The second case.
