i have prepared polymer nanoparticles in ethylene glycol soln. but i have a problem i can't separate it. i used centrifuge and vacuum filtration, but no way to separation.
I think the elevated viscosity caused by ethylene glycol prevent the nanoparticle from falling into the bottom when the suspension is centrifuged. Depending on how much the ethylene glycol used I think the purification of nanoparticle by centrifugation is still possible through dilution. If the suspension is diluted enough to reduce the viscosity to the point it allow the nanoparticle to settle down then it will be possible to separate them with centrifugation.
So my suggestion will be, try to optimize the ethylene glycol to the point where it is possible to manufacture the nanoparticle while suppressing the increase of viscosity. Second, you might would like to try to dilute the suspension prior to centrifugation.
You can try to clean you NP by using a desalting column. I do not know the size of your particles however if they are sufficiently small - it will work.
