I have PKS and NRPS sequences of Actinomycetes. I selected the ORF and taken the protein sequences and analysed the sequences using BLAST. After that, how can I go for chemical classes prediction of different group of antibiotics? Can anyone tell me the steps involved in chemical classes prediction?

I have the nucleotide sequence of NRPS and PKS genes isolated from actinomycetes which I have amplified using specific degenerate primers. Now how can I go for the chemical class prediction of antibiotics from these genes? I have read this paper but I could not understand much about the chemical class prediction part.

It may not be directly feasible from just sequences. However if these proteins/enzymes are directly involved in synthesis of particular class of antibiotics. then it is very likely that the homologous genes in your organism may also involved in that class of antibiotics ..
