i have a polydispers (std. 13%) sample of ~140 nm mesoporous silica nanoparticle ( pore diameter ~9 nm) and i want to measure the density of the nanoparticle. Any suggestions?
I think you can use pycnometer of 10 mL in volume. Firstly, weigh the pycnometer mass on an analytical balance and noted as x gram. Secondly fill up the pycnometer with silica nanoparticles powder you have and weigh it then noted as y gram. Accordingly, the mass of the associated silica nanoparticles is (y-x) gram and finally density of silica nanoparticles is (y-x) gram/10 ml.
