If the HCO3 concentration is low in natural water, then how can I increase HCO3 concentration
The normal treatment for drinking water like this is the addition of CO2 and lime.
Bicarbonate in drinking water can be increased by adding sodium bicarbonate or calcium carbonate Quantity of these chemicals must be optimum and after treatment the chemical parameters must be within the permissible limits of drinking water.

Forget about adding CO2 - this would increase H2CO3 (carbonic acid) and lower the pH - potentially decreasing HCO3. The easy way is adding NaHCO3 or any other cation-HCO3 chemical.
Just wondering, how to add HCO3 without raising sodium to the irrigation system ? what is best source of HCO3 for irrigation?
Irrigation water that contains above 200 mg/L of bicarbonate plus carbonate is considered detrimental to plant health. So why increase bicarbonate?
