How can I get a 1 mm thick formaldehyde fixed tissue section translucent for a 3D distribution analysis of Sirtex 30 um fluorescent spheres?

We plan to develop a 3-dimensional microdosimetry in liver/tumour after Sirtex intraarterial infusion.

This is a really interesting technique that was presented recently at a seminar and published in Nature. It may be beyond what you are looking for but I thought I'd put it out there for you.
