I am trying to run explicit simulation of friction stir spot welding (thermo-mechanical coupling analysis). The errors are stated as follow after job submission.
Error in job FSSW: Zero or negative capacitance in element number 2 instance TOOL-1.
Error in job FSSW: Zero or negative capacitance in element number 3 instance TOOL-1.
Error in job FSSW: Zero or negative capacitance in element number 4 instance TOOL-1.
Abaqus User's guide is extremely valuable to resolve this issue. It shows that capacitance is estimated automatically; and the product of density, heat capacity and volume gives the capacitance of an instance.
Therefore, a detailed material definition is needed to resolve this issue. Most especially the mass density and the specific heat capacity of the material should be defined in the material module. Abaqus will compute the volume of the modeled instance on its own and Bingo...the error vanishes.
