                                      it depends on the size of the home garden, but with permaculture principles, you can begin with chickens, a small fish pond containing and your vegetable gardens. This can be integrated in a way that, the fish waste can be filtered as it runs through the soil substrate and back into the pond while you can cage the chickens on plots you need to prepare for the next cultivation. Depending on the size of the home garden, you can include other beneficial animals and insects to help break down garden waste for humus and etc

You could do a social study to find out how much a group of gardens adjust to permaculture ideas, presumably without having heard about it before.
