Dear All,

I am working on an experiment at the university at which I need to control the water heater power. The main goal is to fix the temperature in a steady state heat exchanging experiment.

The maximum water heater power needed is 4500watts.

I would like to know your ideas on how can I control the heater power. Although the use of a potentiometer would help, there's no high power (more than 1 KW) potentiometers in the market. I thought about dividing designing a heater which consists of 3 or 4 heating elements and control each one separately. I would like to know how can I manufacture it simply and safely.

Do you have any other ideas? or any experience with doing something similar?

Thanks.
