I used Modified Hummer Method to produce Graphene oxide from Graphite nanopowder. However, my specimen became in the form of sheets (flakes). I would like to use it as a powder form. I have tried to disperse it into the DMF/NMP but after drying, i still achieve GO sheets.
How can i convert GO sheets to the GO nanopowder?

I assume you obtained the sheet form after the filtration and drying step. However, the sheet form is a result of the drying process and not the structure of the GO.
You can obtain it in powder form by using a mortar and pestle or you can obtain it in a spongy form by lyophilization.
Abhilash Venkateshaiah firstly thank you for your reply. I achieve sheet form after drying process. It seems like small papers and mortar or pestle didn’t work. For instance, imagine that you are grinding papers in mortar, it is similar like this example and it doesn’t work. I haven’t tried lyophilization but i am not sure about spongy form of GO. I don’t know if its mechanical properties change or not

Could you please share an article or give some details about ball milling process of GO nanosheets? I had worked about that system before but i used it for micron powders to dope them. Which material are you using as a ball to prevent contamination during ball milling process and how many hours that i need for converting sheets to powder form?

Özlem Ağaç What do you plan to do with the GO? If it involves dispersing it in solvents you can store the sheets as it is, as GO gets dispersed fairly easily in solvents .
Just you can do at the time of filtration process finally wash with acetone will get fine powder.
Dear Abhilash Venkateshaiah After applying Hummer's Method, i achieve GO as a sheet. I would like it as a powder form. By this way i can reinforce it into the some polymers or dope it other nanopowders easily. I have tried dispersing it in NMP and DMF to get powder but after evaporation of DMF/NMP, again GO turns into sheet form. Dispersing is not necessary for my procedure. I have just tried them to achieve powder but they didn't work.
