I really cant thank you enough on the recommended references. They are highly relevant and useful to my study and I hope to consult and cite them.

However, they did not contain the required technique to merge the two data set together. I want to merge Shale oil production data (in barrels over the years) and electric car production (in number over the years) to get one variable that will enter into my regression regression.

I thought of standardizing the two variables, but my worry is, how do I merge them thereafter. Are two different standardized series additive? Can I average the two? These are some of the questions in my mind.

Further help from you or any other person is highly appreciated.

I think your question is very general what you are saying;

And I think the combination of these two variables, requires the study of other factors and needed further studies.
