you can simply do it by considering  moles of C in input and output.

first you have to know mass or mole flow of output and input stream. carbon conversion is the ratio of mole C in output (sum of all carbon in output gas specially) to mole C in input.

You should use the elemental balance. For each carbon product you can calculate %mol C, as follow:

% mol C(CO) = 0,22 * 12/28 = 0,094

%mol C(CO2) = 0,40 * 12/44 = 0,109

%mol C(CH4) = 0,08 * 12/16 = 0,06

Then you obtain %mol C total outlet = 0,094 +  0,109 + 0,06 = 0,263

After that, you can get the C conversión, How?

Conversion = %mol C products / %mol C inlet * 100

Finally, surprise you have the conversion: 0,263/0,5 * 100 = 52,6%

you can account all your biomass feed-stock as C (sample should be Dry) and later after process collect all the bio-char and weight it. so, you can calculate the Carbon conversion efficiency of gasification process.

another way is to calculate base on produced CH4, C2H4, C2H2, CO2, CO, Bio-oil and Bio-char that you can do by mole conversion of biomass to product. 

if you calculate CO2 and CO formation as products for any given fuel it is easy to calculate the C conversion
