How can I analyze metallic zinc by colorimetry using natural extract(leaf, flower, fruit etc) as a color developer?

The extract from few plant part were used to develop the complex with metal ions. I want to develop colorimetric assay of zinc with plant extract. what kind of plant i need to select and what might be the principle, mechanism of such color complex development?
