How can I analyses the vibration of an isotropic piezoelectric plate in ABAQUS or ANSYS? What do I need in building the model such as the basic material properities? Thank you!
To my knowledge Abaqus does not have any piezoelectric plate/shell models. I have only found piezoelectric solid elements (such as C3D8E). For those elements, you must define mechanical (short-circuit), piezoelectric, and dielectric (at constant strain) properties.
Ernesto is right. Unfortunately, Abaqus does not offer coupled electro-mechanical finite elements for shell analysis. This behaviour can only be included by writing a user-element subroutine. The other possibility is to use continuum elements where I would always recommend the finite element with quadratic shape functions C3D20E as you want to model thin-walled structures. Here, you have to make sure to use at least 2-3 finite elements over the thickness of the plate. This is unfortunately numerically much more costly than using plate/shell elements.
In addition to what Ernesto mentioned you have to keep in mind to define a material coordinate system for the piezolectric materials. This defines the polarization direction.
i strongly recommand to use ansys APDL for the vibration analysis of the piezoelectric , it contains different element type ( 2D or 3D). you can check the ansys help where u can find some exemples there
