I fractionated a plant extract with ethyl acetate for use as an antioxidant agent. I have to give a oral dose of this to rats but ethyl acetate does not dissolve in water. Can anyone suggest which vehicle can be used for oral administration of ethyl acetate fraction? It is in hard dry solid form.
You can remove ethylacetate under vacuum, if possible freeze dry the extract. Take the weighed amount of powdered extract and dissolve in a solvent which is polar enough (so that it is soluble in water also) like DMSO.
As you will dissolve known weights, you will have the dilution parameter known to you.
Thus your findings will be more accurate with respect to qualitative and quantitative aspects.

If your extract contains negligible amount of ethyl acetate then you can fed your rats this diluted in an edible oil (maize oil, olive oil etc ). If you have a high amount of the solvent as indicated by dr mujahid yousufi you should ethyl acetate under vacuum, if possible freeze dry the extract. Take the weighed amount of the residue extract and mix it in oil though ethyl acetate is a polar solvent thus the extract however I think polar solvents are not much suitable
