Magnesium is a necessary co-factor for DNA polymerase enzymes. dNTPs are the "building blocks" needed to synthesize more DNA molecules.

I'm not aware of any inhibition of polymerases by an excess of either of those molecules since they are both present in excess in PCR reactions.

1/. The excess of dNTPs will not inhibit the Taq polymerase but it may decrease its fidelity.

2/. Mg2+ cations concentration depends on that of compounds that bind the ions, including dNTP, free pyrophosphate (PPi) and EDTA. The Taq polymerase uses the substrate composed by Mg2+/dNTPs.

3/. Excess of free ions may also impact the medium pH, ideally wanted at 8-9 for a good stability of the Taq polymerase.
