I already do the research about electrolysis of seawater using the graphite-graphite and graphite-copper to compare each electrode to see which one can produce hydrogen gas better. The data that I got tell me that copper is better than graphite but I'm afraid this is gonna be wrong. Can u tell me which electrode is better to produce hydrogen gas with seawater electrolysis and voltage that I use between 4.5 volt- 18 volt

Generally, metal electrodes display a smaller overpotential toward the HER than carbonaceous materials, so the reaction should occur more easily on a metal surface. The applied cathodic potential should prevent undesired reactions between the electrode material and the ions contained in seawater, but I am not experienced in possible interferences deriving from such a complex matrix. I would also recommend using an anode made of a chemically inert metal (platinum, for instance) rather than graphite, if you observe problems using the latter in your experiments.

Between the mentioned electrodes, your conclusion seems right; but you need to examine more electrodes and pay attention on them from electrocatalytic as well as stability viewpoint. At large scale electrolysis of seawater copper is not the best choice.
