I am a long-time user of R, but I basically always do the same thing… Generate an « ugly » table of descriptive statistics with summaryBy and doing ANOVA, post-hoc tests, etc.
I recently discover R Markdown and got really existed with its great potential to create nice statistical reports and more.
I have attached a screenshot of a simplified kind of raw data I usually produce in my research and the type of table I eventually publish.
I search the web for R code to produce the second table on my screenshot, but I did not find exactly what I was looking for.
Does someone is the Research Gate could help me?

Thank you for your response. I indeed found and read the information you have suggested. My problem is rather with the R code. I was wondering if there is a package/command that could generate the second table in my screenshot from my raw data.
Do you have a suggestion or a package to suggest?

Sébastien Plante Not sure if this is exactly what you need, but take a look at the KableExtra library. For a quick demo, WriteClipboard(table(df)) and then paste it into MS Excel.
Note: that works nicely on windows, I haven’t tried it on other platforms.
It is possible to create the table as shown in ss. Here is one package which is capable to do this . https://github.com/arminstroebel/atable
A basic and the most flexible approach would be to calculate your statistics for the second table and use any of the existing table packages in Markdown/Quarto. Due to its flexibility I mostly use flextable for such purposes.
For a more direct approach, i.e. using a table package which directly produces your summary, you might have a look at the vtable package (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/vtable/vignettes/sumtable.html).
You could transform your output into a felxtable object (https://ardata-fr.github.io/flextable-book/index.html) using the as_flextable() command. The flextable package is plenty of options to tailor tables to your needs.
