Since retinal is a photosensitive compound, I wonder whether you perform your experiments in darkness or do you allow certain amount of light. I've read some experiments for root development and they report covering the root system with aluminum foil, but don't refer to the photosensitivity nature of the compound as the reason for such treatment. I've checked the sigma technical details but cannot see a clear pathway regarding the stability of retinal in MS media. If any of you has done any studies using retinal, could you share some tips with me? I'm especially interested in light/darkness conditions and prolonged experiments.

Thanks!
