The person I referred to in my question (as a matter of providing an example of the consequences) is planning to move back to the city and to follow his previous track of doing academic and research work. His input was not to cut completely from the social circle he has but not to subject himself to the isolation of keeping his mind active.

What you say is right Saeed provided the others are ready to listen and interact with the scholar. However, if the visitors or community undermine the scholar's work then a feeling of repulsion will result.

Yes Saeed. If there is harmony between the two sides, then a discussion could be fruitful and this will encourage further interactions.

Besides books, it is important exchange of views and research work, whit colleagues in similar or related fields.

Fro the sociological point of view this should occur fro short periods otherwise you may lose certain bonds with the social network.

You are right Dorina and Talal. Keeping in touch at least with people of similar interests is better than keeping away solely with books or research. After all, interaction adds value.

Basically, a person must build good social relations!! Certainly, family visit is like any other issues that with excessive use will reflected negatively.

Moving away from a book or a selective society or resorting to alternatives does not eliminate the need to communicate with all groups and to be wise to hear simple and contradictory opinions, and at times disgruntled about what we raised and elected a path for us,

Research and academic work must be harnessed with social relations. A good balance must be maintained. Yet, as a scholar, I do not waste my time with unproductive persons who engage in nonprofitable conversations. I maintain good social relations (family and closed friends and colleagues) with industrious and well meaning persons.

honestly I must say, that every moment I go deeper into the ocean of science, I feel that slowly I move away from my society, even sometimes I feel frustrated by some of the things I used to do with passion. now reading became my only joy in life.

Thank you Joseph and other for your points of view, I guess everything done moderately does not hurt. Though, some times there are certain people who just come over to waste time because they have nothing to do on their own. Moreover, in some communities, at least around here, it is rude to just say things boldly!

Research is a great opportunity that gives you the opportunity to learn and grow professionally.

But I can't compare the moments of being with my family, especially with my baby of only 3 years.

The family and my profession took them in parallel.

Both things fill my soul.

Indeed what you said is sacred and very true. However, I refer to adult relatives not the nucleus of the family itself.

Indeed, however some times deviant behaviors lead to negative responses though within the network of social acquaintances. Therefore, time spent under these conditions will not lead to constructive outcomes unless under one condition, the researcher seeks to study deviant social behaviors!
