I can not but reverse the meaning to my students who are also my teachers. For them I learned to listen more, be more empathetic, more creative, tons of innovation, always on my mark to change, reflecting myself in them, managing, monitoring, evaluating, and checking the details of improvement, and the list goes on... I thank, from the bottom of my heart, each and every individual (she or he) who was in the position of being my student, because without her/him I will not be what I am today.

Recently, I came across a quote which said: "If you can write your name, thank your teacher. If you cannot, blame your self. No teachers, no nation!" - Anon.
I know that teachers receive quite a lot from students. However, I wouldn't want to over state it. I really think that student receive more from teachers than the other way round. Teachers carry an influence that even themselves under estimate; all learning points intended and unintended; verbal and non-verbal.
Furthermore, beyond content, method, etc; there is the aspect of role model, inspiration for young. Some would not hide their thoughts and feelings and express they would like to be like their teacher. They would want to attain their heights their teacher had reached. In a case of negative identification, it would be a matter of a resolution never to be like so so and so.
Like your thoughts Rose. True we learn less from individual students, but at least they are capable to trigger an action from teachers that may have long term benefits.
No man can be a good teacher unless he has feelings of warm affection toward his pupils and a genuine desire to impart to them what he believes to be of value- Bertrand Russell.
I am proud to be a teacher. Teaching is one of the most honorable and noble of all professions. I love what I do and know that my enthusiasm is contagious. I bring knowledge, dedication, and understanding to my classrooms. I make a positive difference in my students' lives. My students will be better people because of me, and I will be a better person because of them. I know what I give to my students will come back to me in many wonderful and unexpected ways.

The time when his/her student acquired posted at high post or get admission in highest ranked university.
Absolutely Ghazanfar. We feel really proud when we know of students accepted at well known universities or have advanced to higher managerial posts. Even prouder we feel, when they acknowledge that something they learned was part of their competencies to go ahead in life.
The teachers are engineers who produce learned professionals. The teachers are musicians which fill rhythm of knowledge in a mind. The teachers are constructors of tomorrow as they shape future of a generation.
Having graduated students for the last 30 years, brought me great satisfaction because many of those who graduated have become teachers themselves, and successful ones too. Isn't that something?

You are a happy man. I had the same students before 1991-1993. And then, the relative proportion of very good and aspiring to knowledge for some reason decreased. And not only me. This is the politico-historical peculiarities of Russia after 1991. And now the students are different (as always, in all ages), there are good (score 4), satisfactory (3), very good, excellent (5). Excellent students have always been less than others, which is natural. There were also outstanding pupils (very few). All students help the teacher to teach better and better. A real, experienced teacher is formed, in my opinion, 7-10 years.

You are drawing a realistic picture that applies everywhere. Although there are different categories, there are also different personalities. Usually, I attend each student according tho the specific need. The big title of my help starts at, "I am there for you whenever you think you need help" , continues with " I will worry more about you than yourself", beside my attitude to teach with examples from real life.
We are all part of that community and we will best succeed when we work together. It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.
Indeed, the teacher has been respected more in the old times, however, with time that respect is getting less. Two things come to my mind, the new generation is breaking old traditions for being less emotional and the technology generation issue. Kids are accustomed to talk for hours using tech gadgets a fact that is blurring their sight on the line of respect with adults because kids think they can address them as they address their peers!
Everyday should be the day of the teacher to appreciate those who are cultivating creative minds.
Prof. Hussain Jose Hejase, I agree with you that every day should be the day of the teacher.Teachers are individuals who are passionate about their subjects and contribute to the growth and development of creative minds. It reminds me of Prof. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, a Nobel laureate in physics in 1983 and, a faculty member at the University of Chicago for nearly 60 years, was a highly devoted teacher, which is illustrated in one story in particular. In the 1940s, while he was based at the University’s Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, Wis., he drove more than 100 miles round-trip each week to teach a class of just two registered students, T.D. Lee and C.N. Yang, who eventually won the Nobel Prize in physics, much earlier to Prof. Chandrasekhar. Prof. Tsung Dao Lee and Prof. Chen Ning Yang both together won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1957.

Teachers are highly valued. They can not be compensated enough for their contribution to build whole generations.
Very true Prof. Atrissi. The Arab proverb describes teachers to a high level so that "They are almost Prophets!!". Because of the importance of their messages and endeavors toward preparing new generations.
