The soil carbon sequestration was significantly higher in the Biofilm biofertilzer practice. This is due to increased microbial C assimilation in the root zone if the soil.

Green manure (GM) helps in the expansion of the soil nitrogen source, the mobilization of soil phosphorus and the improvement of soil organic matter content in the soil.
Chapter Green Manuring and Its Role in Soil Health Management
Despite such conspicuous changes in soil organic carbon content in response to green manuring , why is this a forgotten cultural practice in modern day agriculture...??
Regular application of green manure will lead to an increase in soil organic matter but do not expect that build-up of soil organic matter is permanent. Once we stop applying green manure, soil organic level will start decreasing and reach a level as regulated by climate and tillage.
the effect of green munure on the soil organic matter depends on when is it incorporated into soil. if it is incorporeted into soil too early and too young of seedling, I don't think it is could increase soil organic content.
it depends on the C:N ratio of the green manure which use to incorporate. The humus content is only increased appreciably if material fairly resistant to decomposition is added to the soil (high Carbon:Nitrogen ratio), and this type of plant material is typically low in nitrogen (less than 1.5 per cent on a dry-weight basis). The available nitrogen supply is only increased if readily decomposable material high in nitrogen, such as immature green plants, is incorporated into the soil. The amount of organic matter that may accumulate will vary with the soil, climatic conditions, and the age and type of crop.
Increasing organic matter in a soil upto a certain degree is not that difficult but depositing into passive pool of soil carbon is the real success and add recalitrance to such carbon against decomposition losses...
Strictly speaking, green manuring is not able to increase organic matter content of the soil. Well, soil organic matter (SOM) level is defined by the prevailing climate at the location. When we repeatedly green manure a field, SOM does increase but temporarily. Once we stop applying green manure, in a couple of years the SOM reverts to the original level as defined by the climate.
The quality of the organic matter that we add to the soil depends on the ratio of nitrogen to carbon. Therefore, poultry waste comes first, then leguminous crops as green manuring
Green manuring can increase soil organic matter content, but temporarily. Soil organic matter content is governd totally by the prevailed climate. So you need to practice green manuring yearly or even seasonally in unfavorable climate to maintain its level.
How the recalcitrance of added carbon works in a given soil is perhaps most important to enrich the passive pool of soil organic carbon vis- a- vis crop perormance....

Green manuring either insitu or exsitu may improve soil organic matter.. logically, green manuring crops which were grown in the field, mature and are buried in the soil by tillage operations is more pronounced to raise SOC status.. however, good capacity to fix atmospheric nitrogen also add nitrogen in the soil, resulting in efficient release of nutrients for plant uptake...humus formed as final product after decomposition of organic matter added by insitu green manures may also act as chelate for enhancing the micro nutrients availability in the soil...over all, it has been conceptualised that addition or inclusion of green manuring crops influence all the physical chemical and biological properties of the soil in a positive manner...Dhaincha and rice co culture is very popular strategy now a days to sustain the soil ecology
