We have a GE 3T 750w
I have a problem with a curvilinear infolding artifact (see attached images)
- always on the left side
- appears 1mm iso-voxel 3DT1
- more evident on post-Gd (due to enhancement of epicranial structures
- appears more frequently on 24CH head&neck coil, and sometimes on 32CH head only coil
Is or scanner the only scanner with this problem? Or has someone seen this artifact as well??

Hi Sven. This is likely to be a result of parallel imaging (e.g. ASSET) – which factor are you using? Otherwise, it could be caused by partial phase field of view – hence, increase this to 100%.

It is indeed related to ASSET. The problem however is that if we turn off ASSET, the image quality significantly decreases (e.g. much less contrast grey-white matter, almost impossible to delineate basal ganglia etc.) so imaging without ASSET is not an option.
The question therefore is what can be done to avoid this artifact using ASSET?

Hi Sven,
The reason you have better IQ using ASSET is that the reconstruction is different with ASSET. If you reduce the ASSET factor; you can go to ASSET of 1 – there will be no time saving but the ASSET reconstruction will be used (therefore maintaining IQ) and will also provide an ‘unwrapping’ of the wrap.
