I'm looking to determine (very basic) fuel economy statistics of heavy-duty vehicles (18-wheelers) and passenger buses, and the effect of weight reduction on this fuel economy. Does anyone know a good resource to find this information? In particular, I'm interested in Brazil (and the role of diesel/gas/ethanol mix on the fuel economy).
That's a tough one... Try the journals Fuel or engine. Considering you will be dealing more with engineering, I would make a research on google scholar rather than Web of knoledge, because from what I know, in these areas they publish more in conference proceedings than actual papers. The only thing I read so far was an evaluation of different biodiesel mixture in an engine.
For specific fuel consumption, I would go straight to the manufacture of the vehicules or engines. Just call them and ask..
