We used sol-gel method to synthesize Cu substitued Ni-Cd ferrite nanoparticles. XRD patterns confirmed the single-phase spinel structure of the materials. In the FTIR spectra we got absorption bands near 665 cm-1 and 2350 cm-1, but no peaks found near 435 cm-1. As we know in ferrrites research, nu1 band near 665cm-1 corresponds to octahedral sites and nu2 band near 435 cm-1 corresponds to Octahedral complexes and their presences confirm the cubic spinel structure.

But since in our FTIR spectra, we have not observed peak near 435 cm-1 (but absorption bands found near 665 cm-1 and 2350 cm-1, ), how can we explain the FTIR results? Can we confirm the single-phase cubic structure without nu2 band?

Thanks in advance.
