I define the behaviour of FRP bars as brittle isotropic linear elastic using the Elastic option available in ABAQUS (Young's Modulous and Poisson's ratio ). I need to know how to take into account the FRP tensile strength in ABAQUS?.
I tried to use sub-option available with Elastic option (Fail stress and Fail strain) but that gives error as it is designed to be used with orthotropic material.
Please note that different type of FRP Bars have different tensile strength.
Type of FRP Bars Tensile strength
Steel 6000 psi
GFRP 100000 psi
AFRP 170000 psi
CFRP 300000 psi
fail stress & fail strain used only for shell element, you can define FRP bar as elastic isotropic material as:
E & PoisRatio in elastic behavior
and in plastic behavior use:
first raw is :
Fy=max tensile strength of FRP bar & 0
second raw is:
the same value of Fy & small value of inelastic stain as .000001
