As a periodontist i have contact with patient with Burning Mouth Syndrome. I have started with topically use of clonazepam 4 times daily in total daily dose of 2 mg. For now, my results show that 70% of patient fell much better
also it can be used as an alternative, capsaicin 0,025% gel application in patients with burning mouth syndrome. but often it causes burning as a side effect. regards
Yes, I've used with excellent results. Using suspension of 1 mg / 10 ml for 3 min mouthwashes twice daily for a month. The patient should be instructed not to eat or drink or even brush the teeth up to 45 min after rinsing
I recommend use whenever start burning sensation. Usually, the patient reports improvement in symptoms for about 3 hours, then returns use the medication topically . However it varies greatly from one to another
Topical clonazepan has been my first line of treatment for some years. It seems to be an interesting alternative for the management of BMS, the patiets has to keep 1mg in the mouth for 1-2 min tid. At least a partial response (30-50% symptom reduction) is expected. I also ask for the patient to swallow the night topical dose when only mild response was observed.
Yes, i have used it with some success under "the rule of the three": mouthwashes 1mg/10 ml for three minutes, three times every day for at least 3 months. At night i recommend to swallow the solution after rinsing.

Yes, I recommend to my patients topical use of 0.5mg clonazepam tablet, three times a day, with clinical evaluation 7 days, and if there is improvement of symptoms, use for 1 month. Always taking advantage of other oral symptoms such as xerostomia, digeusia and burning.
Associated, and when there is hyposalivation, I also prescribe, internal oral use, Jaborandi extract 1% aqueous solution, 3 times a day.
I have also had good results with low intensity laser .
