Along with gelatin, I am also using sodium alginate in the bioink. So alginate is getting crosslinked with CaCl2, but the construct is getting degraded due to un-crosslinked gelatin. I tried to optimize it with citric acid at 2-4% concentration. But the construct survived only for 7 days without cells.
Hello! it is a bad idea to use citrate in combination with Ca ions, as you will get strong complex. Ca salt also will help crosslinking of gelatin with Alginate. I assume you need to increase the molecular weigh of both polymers and use only CaCl2
Initially, I had tried to cross-link construct only with CaCl2, but still it degraded completely on 4th day and we could see gelatin floating on surface. If we increase the alginate concentration further, the solution will become more viscous and maybe it won't be printable.
