It can also be autoclaved. No issues with that. All your solutions must be free from any type of contaminations for your competent cells preparation as they are antibiotic sensitive before transformation. Hope this helps!!
Consider the possible contamination by carbonation of calcium chloride and/or of its solution to soluble calcium bicarbonate, along with its hereafter conversion to insoluble calcium carbonate upon heating or boiling.
