I am working on the petrophysical modeling of the sandstone reservoir suing Petrel. I have selected three facies i-e sandstone, shaly sandstone and shale on the basis of basic log analysis which is used to prepare facies model. 3D model of the estimated petrophysical propertes i-e porosity, permeavility, water saturation etc have been also prepared.
How I may incorporate the effect of facies (Facies Screening) in my prepared petrophysical model?
What really is meant by facies screening in 3D models?
How I may understand this concept in a clearer way? I have tried to read manuals but unable to execute the process in petrel.

Normally facies models are used to constrain petrophysical models.i.e. you model porosity forinstance differently from one facies to another and you want this variation captured in the petrophysical model.
You do this by using facies filtering tools in the petrophysical modeling.

I try to contribute to your question: What really is meant by facies screening in 3D models?
Because, the critical problem is that there are a lot of techniques to make a 3D model property, but only one tool to sampling in the field the subsurface such as volume: the seismic. Only 3D seismic tool allows you to illuminate the subsurface in three dimensions at the scale of reservoir characterization, which allows you to have a model of properties.
Statistical analyses (extensively utilize three classes such as: descriptive - measures of central tendency and variability); correlational – measures of strength and direction of the relationship between different sets of data, and mathematical techniques such as neural networks, are artificial / synthetic procedures through analyzing and modeling several variables, and therefore, predicting the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables.
If you use only logs from wells, and capture any properties using e.g., distance, neighborhood radius, and it use to predict the behavior of a certain property, you can make not only a 3D grid, but really, but also, not a volume property.
Eventually, the reservoir facies and elastic properties from logs (Young’s Moduli, Poisson’s Ratios…) is a goal to provide a matrix of reservoir properties versus seismic properties / attributes in volume (prestack elastic inversion), which can be used to determine the maximum discrimination of a reservoir property.

If I have understood the effect of facies in petrophysical modeling consisite to use as a second property use bias if there is a close relationship between facies and petrophysical parameters see the effect of diagenisis for example in a clay the water saturation is equal to 100% so we use the facies as fixed value assign value etc, I hope my comment is useful thank you

If you want to check that your modelled facies distribution makes geological sense you must first explicitly state what conceptual depositional model ( e.g. a meandering river / a turbidity system / a delta mouth bar / etc) you are trying to model. Secondly you should have or assume basic statistical info about facies abundances. Thirdly you should know or assume directional variation ( and rates of change) in those abundances. Given that info or assumptions you can than compare your model results with your prior information and decide whether the model makes any sense.

I have also worked on Petrel 2015 to prepare 3D models for Dhodak field and prepare 3d model of facies, porosity, water saturation and volume of shale.i have worked on Pab Sandstone of cretaceous age and thsi is my Mphil thesis
