My geometry is a plastic product with lot of ribs and small notches..etc, basically it is little difficult for that geometry to generate hex mesh (which is desirable in drop test). So I created tetra mesh, but the solver returns below error. The materials I am employing are polycarbonate type and FR-4, in this case, which material model do I need to select and how do I overcome this error?
I think that you need to partition the part if you did not do so already so that you get small elements in the transition areas between features. Partitioning will enable hex meshing.
Maybe try a linear elastic model first in a simple bending assembly so that you can apply a known load and accurately measure the deflection. Compare the measurement to your FEA and repeat to confirm your material properties.
Thanks for the inputs. I figured out that it needs input in engineering data by providing appropriate equation variables which could only be obtained either by experiments. For the geometry it is not possible to employ hex because ANSYS calculates the volume to surface ratio for HEX mesh which does not meet in my geometry.
Update: Thanks Mr Elsisi and Mr Delbrugge, The model has been solved by employing midsurface technique, however I will continue to improve the solid mesh.
