I am interested in the body of literature regarding sample integrity when there's a delay from sample event (say, storm flow) and time of sample collection from automated samplers. This would be for any and all analytes, from volatiles, semivolatiles, other organics, metals, etc. Not sure of good search terms for these types of investigations, as they are generally ad hoc experiments to other types of investigations.
We are not able to add preservatives to our automated samplers and because of remote site issues, not often able to collect immediately. I suppose at some point, evaporation is the key problem for all analytes.
Thanks for any insights, citations, etc., you might be able to provide.
