At each of the labs I've been in they used one of the aforementioned solutions to sterilize and clean the work area, tools, containers, etc. The lab I have just joined insists on using 10% bleach as a few of the people with experience have said that at one time they were having issues with their PCR and they were resolved after switching from IPA to bleach. I'm asking because the alcohol solvents are so much faster and easier to use as you can soak everything and it rapidly evaporates, bleach is much trickier because it does not evaporate quickly so a lot of time and attention has to go into ensuring that the bleach itself doesn't contaminate the samples or reagents.
The PCR is amplifying short ssDNA and RNA oligonucleotides so the procedure is sensitive to contamination.
