Our potentiostat gives this error upon assembly of the 3 electrode system. I have tried refilling the reference electrode with saturated KCL without no bubbles, but its still gives the message.
I change the elctrolyte from sodium sulphate to ferrocyanide solution, still gives the same message.
Kindly assist with this error signal.
Replace the cell will a resistor (1 ...50 kohm, WE on one end, CE and REF on the other end) and try to run the same CV.
If the potentiostat is still "overload" replace all connecting cables or one by one and re-run CV.
If CV is running correctly your potentiostat and the connecting cables are OK (you may suppose that one electrode has a bad connection).

Try to use Luggin Capillary on the reference electrode. This step might reduce the IR drop which normally develops due to the ionic current between the working(sample) electrode and the reference electrode. Also, for the above step to be successful, be sure that the edge of the Luggin Capillary is so close to the working electrode.
