I suggest to test first the SM approach, a pure simulation without optimization. Then, Try to perform the simulation with optimization. In any case try the different options - nesting of the optimizer and the tear streams if you have. Also the convergence methods.

The EO approach is a bit complicated, and adding optimization algorithm makes it more difficult to converge. In any case this is a job not for one day.
