Kisia, what exactly are you working on? I am working on austere and improvised solutions to basic human needs (health, water, food, shelter, sanitation, etc.)

Search for "Hesperian" on the internet. They have a book called "When there is no doctor", and others about sanitation in austere settings.

I was glad to read your posts and want to take full advantage of our exchange here. I know Francisco and Kisia have also commented here in the past about their interest, so I hope they are still "on the market".

It has been difficult lately to find collaborative opportunities, partly because of the competitiveness of the grant process, and also because it is always a challenge to bring intentions into action. This year I am reserving about 20% of my time for research (although I spent many more "informal" hours doing just that) and would like to review some of my own plans and projects, put them in writing and share them with you and get your opinion and your preferences. I know we can share some documents here, but there is a limit to what we can do. I have used google docs for several years now and wonder if any of you have an account. It is very easy to share and edit documents there. Let me know if any of you has a google account; even if you do not, I can still share anything on my account with you. Let me know when you get a chance,

I would like to continue our discussion on research opportunities in emergency management and public health and wanted to run something by you both. I would like to deploy a survey (online) on barriers between emergency management and public health sectors and think it would be very interesting to have comparative data from our respective countries. I have all the templates from a previous project in which a colleague of mine and I worked and need to ask him if he is ok with me using these. He may be interested in collaborating too. Luis, I just read your message. I want to see if I got it right: emergency management and public health are not articulated, and this affects the response. Therefore you want to know about the barriers for an optimal coordination. Is that right? I believe the topic is very interesting and relevant. I had also thought about something related which was how many of the emergency plans in our countries focus on the primary disaster effects, and few, if any, address secondary disaster effects.

I am always interested in collaboration. My personal interests are infrmation management, command and control, triage, critical care and ethics in disaster management.
