My work informed us of a 6 hours power cut to the whole building in a couple of months time in April. We have thin tissue cryosections (for immunofluorescence staining) and aliquots of primary antibodies at -20 and fresh tissues at -80. Without opening the doors for those 6 hours, what temperature would the freezers be able to keep? I would expect adverse effect on the above contents. We did experience some quality deterioration of tissue in immunofluorescence experiments, which is likely due to a previous couple of hours power cut in August (hottest time of the year, again due to building/installation work). Any insights/experience/advice are very welcome and appreciated.
