I'm doing a thesis about the impact of the war on economic growth and on the countries neighbors. I'm using data set of UCDP they take number of death as level of intensity ( less then 1000 death concidered as a minor conflict and 1000 and more is conciderered as a war ). But a war in one region is different than to have a war in 3 regions of the country for example. I hope to differentiate the localized high intensity conflicts then full-scale
I hope also to include neighboring countries and measure the impact of the conflict on the neighboring countries. if is existing any dataset each country and it's neighbor.
I would be gratefull to hear your ideas about this two issues.

Hi Nab El, your question is quite interesting. In conventional war, the economic impact of the war is closely related to the number of dead workers, the number of dysfunction factors of production and the number of destroyed infrastructures. In short, the economic impact of a war arises from the disruption of economic activities in the region.
However, we see that today the economy is weaponized to pressure the opponents. Unlike conventional weapons whose impact is localized, the impact of weaponized economy may spread around the world. Economic activities far away from the war zone may suffer the consequences. Accordingly, the economic impact of this kind of war may be greater than what we can imagine. Some scholars believe that the impact of trade/economic war transcends the conventional one.
In addition, we need to take into account the number of states who get involved both directly and indirectly (through military aid and weaponized economy) on both sides of the conflict as well as the power of intervention they have.
Well, a very interesting research area. However since this can be a vast research, there is a need to refine the topic and first limit research dimensions for more clarity. You can select topics like: 1. Impact of wars in Asian countries
