We go for NS1 (antigen) testing to diagnose dengue. In some cases NS1 may be negative. Antibodies take a few days to develop. How dengue could be diagnosed prior to development of antibodies where NS1 is negative?
Hi Harishit, NS1 antigen appears on day one of dengue infection, so should be positive if infection is there. Here more important is which diagnostic method you are doing to detect Dengue NS1.? If you are doing Rapid test than I would suggest to go by ELISA method. There are various ELISA products available in the market. you can try best out of that. If you need more details, pl ping me.
If you determine antibodies right at the onset of clinical symptoms and IgG is positive, then it is a seecondary infection. If only PCR is positive in the first few days, it is a primary infection.
