I have been doing bacterial genomic DNA isolation from different genus of bacteria and getting the same band pattern, with two extra bands, on the gel every time. The reagents and instruments used are all sterilized. What could be causing those extra bands?
It would be helpful if you included a gel image. But overall it could be RNA contamination, specifically 16s and 23s rRNA bands. Try treating your samples with RNase enzyme. I guess it could also be plasmid DNA or some protein-nucleotide complexes, but I think they would not be consistent across species.
Shruti Nair along with sharing the gel image.. could you describe a bit more of what your steps are in the bacterial isolation? Are plasmids or restriction enzymes used? All of these things could be a factor in determining why you are seeing the same bands.
