Does anyone know the Z height (height of the laser beam relative to the cuvette) for a Beckman Coulter DU520 spectrophotometer? Standard heights seem to be 8.5 or 15 mm, but I've combed the manual for this unit and it doesn't give that particular information. I need to know before I go ahead and buy sub-micro quartz cuvette. Thanks for your help!
I'm in the process of doing so, but they're very slow to respond. So, I thought I'd try an alternate route. Plus, I don't think they support this instrument anymore.
Why not put a piece of card in the light path, observe where it is illuminated, mark the spot and check the accuracy of the mark. You may find that the geometry changes through the light path. If so, that will influence the design of the cell you can use.
Thank you, Paul. I'll look into your suggestion and see what it looks like. I was finally able to get through to Beckman Coulter technical assistance, and since they don't support that instrument anymore (nor are they even in the spectrophotometer business anymore), he couldn't tell me for sure, but was pretty sure the height was 10 mm. On the upside, he said they do have a micro cuvette that does work in that unit, so I'll likely just buy that one. Thanks again for your response.
10 mm is not unusual but personally, I'd have a look first, especially at the geometry over the distance you have in mind. In addition, the experts at (say) Hellma may know. Good luck!
